Where your ideas find each other

Speak your thoughts and Pensatorium turns them into organized, connected notes. Then it helps you see what you keep coming back to.

How it works

Speak your thoughts. A few seconds later they're organized notes you can search and build on.

Step 1

Just talk

Hit record and speak naturally, even if it comes out as rambling. There's no need to organize anything as you go.

Step 2

We organize it

AI instantly transcribes and structures your thoughts into clear, searchable notes. Your messy stream-of-consciousness becomes an organized knowledge base.

Step 3

Ask for a Reflection

When you want to go deeper, ask. Reflections gather everything you've said about a topic and read it back to you, tracing how your thinking has moved over time.

What it does

Everything between saying a thought and using it

Catch it before it's gone

Good ideas show up in the shower, on the commute, halfway through a walk. Hit record, say it, move on. It's transcribed and filed by the time you're back to what you were doing.

Messy out loud is fine

You don't need to arrive with a tidy thought. Say it however it comes out, and the note you get back is the tidy version.

Connections show up on their own

Search by meaning, even when the wording differs. Every new thought gets linked to the ones it belongs with, so you can see when you keep circling the same question.

Plans make it to your calendar

Say 'call the bank tomorrow at ten' and it's scheduled, recurring plans included. Connect your own calendar so the follow-through happens where you already look.

Why Pensatorium exists

It started with three problems every thinker knows

You've thought about this before

You circle back to the same topic for the third time this month and start from scratch, because last month's conclusions are gone. With every thought saved, organized, and connected, you pick up exactly where you left off.

Clear in your head, messy out loud

The idea sounds perfect in your mind. The moment you start talking, it tangles. Here, that's fine. Ramble freely, and get back a clear, structured version of what you actually meant.

Your thinking, six months later

What did you believe about this last winter? Revisit old reasoning, search by meaning, and let AI surface the patterns in how your ideas have developed.

A note from the founders

I think about the world constantly, but I kept returning to the same topics, redoing the same reasoning, and never getting any further. Worse, ideas that felt perfectly clear in my head fell apart whenever I tried to put them into words.

So I built a place to unload my thoughts and get them back organized and coherent. Somewhere I could pick up where I left off, build on old ideas instead of rethinking them, and watch how my thinking changes over time.

The first version solved my problem. Then I realized that if it helps me, it might help anyone whose work depends on thinking. That's the version you're looking at now.

— Tiago, engineer

Thoughts are an important part of our lives. Not all of them become actions, but all of them take up space in our heads: some matter more than others, and some aren't useful at all. Still, every one of them needs a safe space to be. Sometimes a thought just needs to be said out loud to lose its power. Other times, it's what moves us forward.

For me, that's the beauty of Pensatorium. Some thoughts just exist here. Some get developed. And some go on to become real experiences.

Security & Privacy

All thoughts are encrypted with AES-256 before they're stored. By default we manage the encryption keys for you (Managed Security). If you'd rather hold the key yourself, Personal Vault derives it from a passphrase you create, and that passphrase is never persisted on our servers. We don't sell or share your data, and you can export or delete it anytime.
Your audio is used to transcribe your thought and is deleted from our servers right after processing. We keep the words, not the recording.
With Managed Security, the default, we hold your encryption key on our servers and can restore access if you lose your login credentials. With Personal Vault, you create a passphrase and we derive the key from it only for the duration of a request. We never store, log, or retain the passphrase, so once a request completes there's no key material on our side and your encrypted content is unreadable to us. Managed Security suits most people. Personal Vault trades recoverability for that stronger guarantee, since a forgotten passphrase can't be reset.
With Personal Vault, your passphrase is the only thing that derives your encryption key. We never store it and can't recover it, so if you lose the passphrase, your encrypted thoughts become permanently inaccessible, even to us. That's a deliberate design decision, and it's why we recommend keeping the passphrase in a password manager. If you want a recovery path, use Managed Security.
Yes, in either direction, from settings. Moving to Personal Vault re-encrypts your data under your new passphrase. Moving back requires the passphrase one last time, then re-encrypts under server-managed keys.
Most people should use Managed Security. The encryption is just as strong and you can still recover your account if you forget your credentials. Personal Vault exists for people who need the content unreadable to us at rest, with a key that comes from a passphrase only you know. Journalists, therapists, and people working with sensitive material tend to land there, and they should be comfortable keeping a passphrase in a password manager, because losing it means losing the data.

Pricing & Plans

Your trial gives you full access with Thinker-plan limits for 7 days, and we don't ask for a card. When the trial ends, your thoughts stay saved and readable, but capturing new ones pauses until you subscribe. Nothing is ever charged unless you choose a plan.
Thinker includes 100 thoughts and 250 audio minutes per month, which covers a daily habit with room to spare. Overthinker raises that to 230 thoughts and 400 minutes, doubles the Reflections, and allows recordings up to 10 minutes.
The two limits count separately. A month of many short captures runs into the thought limit first, and a month of long thinking sessions runs into the minutes first. With Thinker, for example, you could record 100 short notes or 50 five-minute sessions.
Reprocessing re-runs the AI analysis on a thought you've already captured. It's handy after a rough transcription or when our processing improves. Thinker includes 15 reprocesses a month and Overthinker 30, and once those run out, further reprocesses count toward your monthly thought allowance. Both reset at the start of each month, and you can see where you stand in Settings.
Yes. The price you see is the amount you're charged. LemonSqueezy, our Merchant of Record, calculates the VAT for your billing country out of that price and remits it, and your invoice shows the breakdown.
Yes, anytime, with one click. There's no contract and no cancellation fee, and you keep access until the end of your billing period.
No. Storage is unlimited on both plans and nothing expires. The monthly limits apply to recording new thoughts, and everything already saved stays searchable.

Features & Capabilities

A voice memo still needs you to listen back, figure out what's in it, and file it somewhere. Pensatorium does that part for you. It transcribes the recording, structures the content, pulls out the key points, and connects it to the related thoughts you've already captured.
A chat assistant answers your question and moves on, and the exchange usually disappears into a history you'll rarely search again. Pensatorium is built to be a home for your thoughts. Everything you capture is transcribed, organized, and kept, and the AI works on your accumulated thought history, finding patterns and connecting ideas across months. It's also voice-first, and everything is encrypted, with an optional Personal Vault where the key comes from a passphrase only you know. Plenty of people use both. Pensatorium just becomes the place where your own thinking accumulates.
When you mention a date or time in a thought ('call Maria tomorrow', 'gym every Tuesday'), Pensatorium detects it and schedules it automatically, including recurring events. You can reschedule, complete, or remove anything from your schedule view. To see events in your own calendar, connect Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook to your private Pensatorium calendar feed from settings; your calendar app can then remind you before each event with a lead time you choose.
Yes. Transcription works in dozens of languages, auto-detects which one you're speaking, and processes the content in that language, even if you switch between thoughts. The interface itself is currently English-only.
Very accurate in normal recording conditions. The processing step then structures and clarifies what you said, so a rambling recording still comes back readable.
Both work. You can type a thought whenever speaking isn't practical, and it goes through the same organization as a spoken one. On desktop you get a full rich-text editor.
No. Pensatorium runs in your browser on desktop, tablet, or phone, with nothing to install. A native Android app is coming soon for early adopters, and iOS is planned after that.
If you record without a connection, the recording is saved on your device and uploaded automatically when you're back online. You won't lose a thought to a dead spot.
Thinker allows up to 5 minutes per recording and Overthinker gets 10, which covers most thinking sessions comfortably. For longer ones, record multiple thoughts and the connections between them get picked up automatically.
Yes. The processed version is a starting point, and you can edit, refine, or reorganize anything afterwards.
Pensatorium looks across your thoughts for recurring themes, tracks how ideas develop over time, and connects related concepts. In the app these are called Reflections. You can ask for one on demand or read the ones generated from your recent thinking.
